Thier very own water fountains!

The black-focused school is a go.

After a heated but civil debate, Canada's largest school board voted 11-9 last night to open an alternative Africentric school to help fight a 40 per cent dropout rate among Toronto's black teens.

It will be interesting to see how many school buses are needed to ensure that no one sits at the front of them...

Somewhere out there, Frederick Douglass and Martin Luther King are shaking their heads.

Most selfish headline ever?

Actor's death means job losses for Vancouver film industry

The death of actor Heath Ledger is causing more cuts for Vancouver's troubled film industry.

The 28-year-old, who was found dead in his New York apartment on Tuesday, was scheduled to be in Vancouver next week to work on his role as the lead in director Terry Gilliam's British-Canadian co-production The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

Shooting had already begun in Britain, and Ledger was due in Vancouver on Monday to start filming scenes in front of a green screen, with special effects to be added later.

But with the production now suspended, crews at Bridge Studios in Burnaby, B.C., are facing an uncertain future.

Whoa. I mean, I really don't give a flying fart for Ledger myself, but I'm sure as heck not going to blame him for a failing economy. A young man died - probably from an overdose, possibly at his own hand, we don't know - and the CBC is doing Requiem for the Vancouver film industry? That is a seriously screwy set of priorities. For shame.

If all black teachers, teaching all black culture were the magic pill to create all black geniuses, then wouldn't the degenerate black hole at Jane and Finch be a rocket science research complex by now?

Every day that we have a Conservative government, Canada embarrasses me a little less

Canada has walked away from one of the most farcical UN conferences, calling it a "gong show".

Canada has withdrawn its support for a UN anti-racism conference slated to take place in South Africa next year, the federal government announced Wednesday.

The so-called Durban II conference "has gone completely off the rails" and Canada wants no part of it, said Jason Kenney, secretary of state for multiculturalism and Canadian identity.

"Canada is interested in combatting racism, not promoting it," Mr. Kenney told The Canadian Press. "We'll attend any conference that is opposed to racism and intolerance, not those that actually promote racism and intolerance.

"Our considered judgment, having participated in the preparatory meetings, was that we were set for a replay of Durban I. And Canada has no intention of lending its good name and resources to such a systematic promotion of hatred and bigotry."

The 2001 World Conference Against Racism in Durban turned into "a circus of intolerance," Mr. Kenney said.

One government official on Wednesday called the conference "a gong show."

I'm proud of Canada. Durban I in 2001 was a Cinco de Mayo with Israel as the pinata. All the Muslim countries got together to blame the Jooooos for all the world's ills. To have our current Conservative government stand up and tell the UN to shove their conference is something that I applaud.

Now if they would just turn their attention to the Human Rights Commissions...

A bitch I wouldn't mind seeing in the White House

Now that Fred has dropped out, and Giuliani will probably tank next, I have moved my support to a latecomer:

Sunny Lucas.

Sunny's views on

TERRORISM
"Kill them all."

IMMIGRATION
"We'll try to be reasonable but most of you need to get the fuck out."

THE ECONOMY
"Flat tax. Capitalism. No hand-outs. Tough shit."

RELIGION
"Don't ask, don't tell."

ABORTION
"Mandatory sterilization, just like at the pound."

GUNS
"I don't give a shit about a militia."

EDUCATION
"You only get a treat if you do the trick properly."

GAY MARRIAGE
"You're all being silly."

It's a sad state of affairs (no Clinton pun intended) when the best conservative candidate is someone who licks her own ass.

News from the beach

Still on vacation, extended for a couple more days. I am so thoroughly content here in my little nook far, far away from everything.

Some news I've been tracking:

George Bush and neo-cons plant volcano beneath Antarctica to make global warming worse. Or, ya know, NOT.
Although ice buried the unnamed volcano, molten rock is still churning below. David Vaughan, a glaciologist with the BAS and a co-author of the new study, said the discovery might explain the speeding up of historically slow-moving glaciers in the region.
"This eruption occurred close to Pine Island Glacier on the West Antarctic Ice Sheet," Vaughan said. "The flow of this glacier towards the coast has speeded up in recent decades, and it may be possible that heat from the volcano has caused some of that acceleration."
The effect is similar to a person gliding down a Slip 'n Slide: Volcanically melted water beneath the colossal ice sheet lubricates its movement, assisting its gravity-powered journey toward the Antarctic Ocean.

Of course, the scientists are saying global warming caused the volcano, not the other way around. Not sure what the rationale is behind that...

Iraqi says British mosques are MORE radical than Iraqi ones. Not a very settling thought, is it?
Dr Barham Salih claimed some mosques in Blackburn would be banned in Iraq for the extremist messages they preach.

He made his comments during a dinner party in Baghdad attended by Tory culture spokesman Tobias Ellwood.

The 41-year-old MP claimed Dr Salih said: "I am not surprised that you British are facing so many problems with extremists after what I saw in those mosques in Blackburn.

"What I saw would not be allowed here in Iraq. It would be illegal."

Heath Ledger is dead. Who? Oh right, the other gay cowboy.

Today's yuck factor:
A world-famous Canadian war memorial that even Adolf Hitler treated with respect is being desecrated by kinky local adventurers posing for photographs and videos that are later being posted on porn websites.

A Canadian official said Tuesday the federal government is reviewing security procedures at the Canadian War Memorial at Vimy Ridge, site of the famous 1917 Canadian battle victory that helped both win the First World War and forge the young Canadian nation. Among the dead were 3,598 who lost their lives taking the seemingly invulnerable German position at Vimy.

Three court cases are underway involving indecent incidents at the memorial that honours more than 60,000 Canadians who died and many more wounded. The hearings have been closed to media coverage, but reports say people have exposed themselves or engaged in public sexual acts.

I hate people.

Something Ezra and the rest of us can look forward to

Now that Sharia law seems to be influencing what our "free" press can and can't say about Islam, this is something future Ezra Levants and Mark Steyns can look forward to:

Afghan journalist sentenced to death

An Afghan court on Tuesday sentenced a 23-year-old journalism student to death for distributing a paper he printed off the Internet that three judges said violated the tenets of Islam, an official said.

The three-judge panel sentenced Sayad Parwez Kambaksh to death for distributing a paper that humiliated Islam

Don't think it could happen in Canada?

What if I'd asked you twenty years ago whether you thought journalists in the country my grandfathers went to war for would ever have to sit in front of "human rights" interrogators? What would you have said then?

Beach roundup

I'm actually on vacation this week, and am about to go sit by the pool, read a magazine, and work on adding some lifelike color to my pasty white skin. So here's a roundup:

Why don't they just call it cotton candy? Government renames Islamic terrorism as 'anti-Islamic activity' to woo Muslims

There is no compulsion in religion? British street gang forcing conversions to Islam, dealing drugs.

Cold Terror: Mohammed Mansour Jabarah conspired to blow up U.S. embassies in Singapore and Philippines, gets life term in prison

Bad time to be born in Montreal hospital: Doctors at a Montreal hospital are threatening to stop delivering babies this spring, saying the aging maternity ward is in a decrepit state of repair.

I don't agree with this ruling, especially when young girls are being coerced into getting the HPV vaccine (which has not had enough time to be adequately tested) that you and I are funding: Men who pay for prostrate screening tests are not being discriminated against even though women get free breast cancer screening, the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal said Thursday in a ruling it conceded would not end the public health controversy.

And for a great laugh: The Top 25 Men Who Look Like Old Lesbians

Top 9 Little Known Facts About Ezra Levant

From the gang at TNOYF:

9. Global warming began when Ezra Levant willed the temperature in Canada up a few degrees–you know, just to take the chill out of the air.

8. 95% of all monsters surveyed reported that they are either "absolutely terrified" or "hysterically afraid" of Ezra Levant. Levant already ate the remaining 5%.

7. Ezra Levant once looked Helen Thomas directly in the face and lived to tell about it.

6. (tie) Ezra Levant can grow a thicker mustache than both Tom Selleck and Rosie O'Donnell.

6. (tie) Ezra Levant is actually registered twice as a lethal weapon: once for himself and once for his aura.

5. Ezra Levant eats live cougars sprinkled with Jack Bauer, washes it down with a sandpaper and Chuck Liddell milkshake, and then wipes himself with Chuck Norris.

4. Ezra Levant got the gang from Scooby Doo to stop meddling. Singlehandedly.

3. Ezra Levant forced the band "Better Than Ezra" to change their name to "Alberta Human Rights Commission": because no one is better than Ezra.

2. New studies show that Muslim suicide bombers aren't sacrificing themselves for Allah, they're just trying to escape the wrath of Ezra Levant.

1. If you ever find yourself being persecuted for your views by one of those politically correct government types, simply say "Ezra Levant" three times really fast. He will appear out of thin air and reduce the offender to a whimpering kitten in no time flat with his irresistible onslaught of crane-style verbal kung fu.

Hypocrisy

Quick, let's kill people and blow some shit up!

Terence Koh, the provocative Canadian darling of the New York art scene, has aroused controversy in Britain after a top gallery displayed one of his sculptures showing Jesus with an erect penis.

Media reported that Mr. Koh's statue at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead "has offended Christians and visitors alike."

But yesterday, Baltic Centre spokeswoman Ann Cooper said that Mr. Koh's artwork will remain on display until the exhibition ends Jan. 20. Ms. Cooper added that visitors to the gallery are warned that they may be confronted by images of "a sexual or violent nature" in the exhibition.

"Contemporary art by its very nature is often challenging and controversial; reflecting and responding to some very serious personal and social issues in modern life," the gallery said in a statement. "Baltic does not shy away from presenting such works."

How these hypocrites don't choke on their own forked tongues is beyond my comprehension. Maybe I would take them a little more seriously if they had the balls to print the Dreaded Cartoons of Blasphemy, instead of just shaking their heads at our perceived gaucheness.

Toronto Star neglects to comment on Canadian parallel

It was the same question at the end of every class.

"Yes, but is there really a free press in Canada?" asked a young Russian student slouched in the front row of my journalism and public policy course at St. Petersburg State University.

"Can Canadian reporters really write what they see?" a young woman asked at the end of a lecture about political reporting.

Each time I said yes, there was a tiny groan and students rolled their eyes. Some things don't need translation. The concept of a free press seemed as far-fetched to these Russian journalism students as the tooth fairy, or Santa Claus.

When I was invited to teach at the journalism school of St. Petersburg State University as part of a program run by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, I knew that things were bad for journalists in Russia, but I did not appreciate quite how bad.

No comment on the Steyn or Levant cases. Perhaps that will be in a forthcoming article? Or perhaps they will ignore it. After all, the Toronto Star is on the same wavelength as the PC thought police, so it is unlikely they will ever have to feel the wrath of those who wish to silence our "free" press.

First they came for the conservatives...

Even better than Mr. Smith Goes to Washington

Mr. Levant Goes to the Kangaroo Court.

His statement at the interrogation of the Alberta "Human Rights" commission is stirring and succinct. On more than one occasion, Ezra has stood up for my right to say what I want, often coming under fire himself. And though I'm two thousand miles away, I am proud to stand for Ezra.

Give 'em hell, man. Do not let them silence you. Your complainants, as Muslims, have the right to call for your death as a Jew. But when you point out their hatred, or even just shrug it off with ridicule, you are dragged before a kangaroo court for sensitivity hearings.

Canada's slippery slope has turned into a raging mudslide.

Another one

It's getting hard to keep track of all the newsworthy contributions from the Religion of Honor Killings. They seem to be pouring in at a rate of 2-3 a week. Pretty soon they'll run out of women altogether, and then no ones goats will be safe.

A Muslim teenager made a dramatic plea to be saved from her abusive parents a few months before she died in what police believe was an "honour killing".

Shafilea Ahmed was seen with injuries on her neck, an inquest heard yesterday.

The westernised 17-year-old, who wanted to become a solicitor, was frightened her parents would send her to Pakistan and force her into an arranged marriage.

After running away from home, she told a local council housing officer: "There were regular incidents since I was 15 - one parent would hold me while the other would hit me."

She said her parents, taxi-driver Iftikhar Ahmed, 48, and his wife Farzana, had prevented her going to school or her part-time call centre job.

Sigh. Maybe it's not Islam after all: maybe it's taxi drivers.

In September she enrolled to continue her A-levels at Priestley College, Warrington, and made contact with Miss Powner. But before they could meet, Shafilea disappeared.

Her family did not raise the alarm, but police were called by a teacher after the teenager missed classes.

Her parents put their home on the market the same day, telling a potential buyer they were moving because their daughter had brought 'shame' on the family.

Why haven't we nuked Pakistan yet?

British honor killing trial

Sabia Rani, 19, was repeatedly attacked over a three-week period, suffering bruising to 90 per cent of her body and 'catastrophic' injuries usually only seen in car crash victims.

She had arrived five months earlier from Pakistan for an arranged marriage to Shazad Khan, 25, of Oakwood Grange, Leeds, a jury at Leeds Crown Court was told.

But Khan's family, with whom she lived, took an almost instant dislike to her, said Simon Myerson, prosecuting, and Khan began beating her.

The attack which killed her was "prolonged and vicious," the court heard.

Her agonising rib fractures were caused by "kicks, stamps or very hard punches."

The victim's mother-in-law and a sister-in-law blamed the injuries on "evil spirits, curses and black magic".

But after Khan was convicted of murder at Leeds Crown Court last January police investigated the role of other family members.

They arrested and charged the victim's mother-in-law Phullan Bibi, 52, sisters-in-law Nazia Naureen, 28, and Uzma Khan, 23, and her husband Majid Hussain, 28.

Why not kill her? After all, she was bought and paid for, imported as their property. They felt they could do whatever they pleased with her. She was not a person, she was property.

I hope they convict and deport all of them. Send them back to Crapistan.

I guess she was just "uncovered meat"

Musharraf says of Bhutto:

"For standing up outside the car, I think it was she to blame alone. Nobody else. Responsibility is hers," Mr. Musharraf said in the interview taped Saturday morning.

That's right folks. Guns/bombs don't kill people - standing up at a political rally kills people.

Texas double honor killing

I've been following this story for a few days, watching the facts emerge. I didn't want to label it an honor killing on the first day, just because a Muslim family was involved. But sure enough, it looks like my worst suspicions are being confirmed.

Gail Gartrell, the sisters' great-aunt, said Saturday that Mr. Said had physically abused the two girls for years. Around Christmas, the girls' mother – Ms. Gartrell's niece – had fled because of Mr. Said's threats to kill the girls after he learned they had boyfriends, she said.

"She ran with them because she knew he would carry out the threat," Ms. Gartrell said. "This was an honor killing."

She said her niece returned after Mr. Said told her that he would move out so they could reconcile. Within a few days, she said, the girls were dead.

Two pretty teenage girls - Amina, 18, and Sarah Yaser Said, 17 - both smart and athletic, both very Westernized, were found murdered in their father's taxi. He's on the run. And their brother - conveniently named Islam - says it had nothing to do with religion. Uh huh.

Similar to our situation here in Toronto with the honor killing of Aqsa Parvez, the press in the US has remained pretty silent. There are no news bulletins on CNN or FOX. This means that the ugly bastard who did this is on the lam with very little chance of being recognized by a good citizen who could turn him in. That is, if he's not already safely out of the country and back in Crapistan, being lauded as a hero for defending the honor of his abominable religion. His name is Yaser Abdel Said, he is 50 years old, and his gruesome cab was discovered parked in front a hotel in Las Colinas, a suburb north of Dallas.

UPDATE:

Police described Yaser Said as about 6-2, 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black turtleneck shirt and sweater, a brown coat and tan pants.

He may be armed, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Irving police at 972-721-2518.

Solid Gold Grief

Good God. I happened to catch this on the evening news, and my jaw hung open. I buried both my parents before I turned 19, and to neither funeral did I show up in gold lame.

Ok, so there's a cultural thing going on here for sure. But I can't think of any culture where gold lame or giant knock-off label-whore sunglasses are appropriate at a funeral. Some cultures throw the wives on their husband's pyre, some people dance or drink. But showing up looking like a goddam whore is inappropriate everywhere.

The dead woman, Diane Anderson, had a whole bunch of babies by a whole bunch of different men. Looks like she and her sister (Sophia of the sunglasses) made an excellent impression on daughter Ieisha. Watch the video.

UPDATED WITH PHOTO:

Does this look like any funeral you've seen, excepting when some thug gang-banging rapper gets his just desserts on the streets of Southern Los Angeles? How long before it's Ieisha's funeral, or that of some baby-daddy she hooks up with? Is this how kids are being raised in North Toronto? Enough with multiculturalism - time to call in child services.

But the U.S.A. and Canada are the bad guys

Forbes list of the 10 most polluted places in the world. Bottom line: We're not on the list.

Climate and environment guilt is like white guilt. We're wealthy and bored and we stopped going to church, so we need a reason to punish ourselves now that we don't have the Rosary. So let's freak out over someone else's sins, and change all our lightbulbs. Yeah... that'll save the world.

Because Muslims are just TOO scary

They've come up with a 9/11-style monster movie. Because I guess the reality - that a group of people living among us wants to kill us in the name of Allah - was too much to bear. Easier to blame it on Godzilla, I suppose.

For those of you who still have the nightmares (you know who you are, and you know what I'm talking about), don't bother clicking the link. The flashbacks are a bitch.

I couldn't watch the whole thing.

I mean, you probably weren't, but just in case I have a curious stalker or something...

Kathy has put together some of her best pieces into an e-book. Short and sweet and easy to read. My favorite is Being an American trapped in a Canadian's body. Obviously!
